GridSpace privacy policy

Effective 2 November 2026. Applies to GridSpace: Desktop Organizer for Windows, made by Milner Asset Management LLC.

The short version: GridSpace runs entirely on your PC. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no tracking. The only times anything leaves your computer are the four cases below, and each one is something you can see or choose.

What stays on your PC

  • Your files. GridSpace shows the files and shortcuts that are already on your Desktop. It never moves them into its own folders, never uploads them, and reads nothing from them beyond the name and icon needed to show them.
  • Your layout and settings (which Spaces you have, where they sit, colors, options) are stored in a file under %APPDATA%\GridSpace on your PC.
  • Logs. GridSpace keeps a small activity log and, if it ever crashes, a crash log in the same folder. They are never sent anywhere automatically. If you contact us about a problem we may ask you to attach one.
  • Your license (direct purchases) is stored in the same folder, protected with Windows data protection.

What leaves your PC, and when

  1. Checking for updates. Once in a while GridSpace downloads a short list of available versions from our update server, and downloads a new version when you ask it to. Like any web request this shows the server your IP address. No name, email, license key or hardware identifier is sent.
  2. Feedback you send. When you use Send feedback in the GridSpace window we receive what you typed, the category you picked, your email address if you chose to give it, your GridSpace version and your Windows version. It is delivered to a private channel in our Discord workspace, so Discord’s privacy policy applies to its storage there. We keep feedback for as long as it is useful for improving GridSpace; email us to have yours deleted.
  3. License activation (copies bought from MilnerAM.com). When you enter a license key, GridSpace sends the key and your PC’s name to our license server (run by us on Cloudflare), which tells GridSpace whether the key is valid and how many PCs it is in use on. GridSpace re-checks the key about once a week. Your purchase itself (name, card details) is handled by Stripe, our payment provider, under its own privacy policy; we receive your email address and order details so we can send you your key and help you with it.
  4. Steam version only. If you bought GridSpace on Steam, your layout file can be backed up to Steam Cloud under your Steam account, under Valve’s privacy policy. Nothing else is shared with Steam.

What we do not do

We do not sell or share your information, show ads, build profiles, or collect usage statistics. GridSpace works offline except for the four cases above.

Children

GridSpace is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13; we do not knowingly collect information from them.
